BODY OF MISSING CHILD DISCOVERED IN NGWERERE RIVER; SEARCH FOR SECOND CHILD CONTINUES Chongwe Municipal Council Fire Brigade yesterday continued the search and rescue operation for the two toddlers in Meanwood Kwamwena Valley Phase Four along Ngwerere River, following the suspected drowning incident that was reported earlier. The operation, which commenced around 10:20 hours, involved the Council Fire Brigade working in collaboration with the Zambia Army Marine Unit, Zambia Police Service, well-wishers, and the area Councillor who was present. After widening the search area along the river, the body of six year old Matias Kamanga, who had been reported missing, was discovered at approximately 17:15 hours and retrieved by the combined emergency teams. The body was later transported to the University Teaching Hospital by the Zambia Police Service. Due to time limitations, the operation was suspended later in the evening.
